So I just finished supper & decided to throw a line in the river this evening at about 8:00pm. I went to the old wing dam that your familiar with. I dressed my rig with some minnows and casted out into the Eddie and sat patiently waiting for a bite. I heard a distinct loud splash off to my right out in the middle of the river and seen a black round object which to me looked like a stump or piece of driftwood at the time and figured it must of spooked a nice size fish (probably a nice northern I thought to my self) With my eyes still focused on the object on the opposite side another big splash this time I saw what looked to me was definitely a nice northern and thought to myself I'm definitely going to land into a nice one tonight. So keeping my eyes fixed on this object just curious to see if anymore fish surface I noticed something strange as it got closer . For one it wasn't moving as fast as the river flow (current)& two it was rotating at 90degrees and then back . Finally I realized holy nuts its a f**king black bear & the S.O.B. is fixed on landing its self on the only piece of sandbar around in a mile, that I'm fishing off of . So in a panic I real my line in (the S.O.B only 25ft away) grab my nuts & let out a nice scream & jet to the van . I grabbed my camera from the van to see if I could snap a shot ,went back and seen that the bear had retreated back to the other side of the river what an awesome power force the S.O.B. swam the width of the river twice (right now the rivers width is quite wide due to the rain)got up on shore and I swear it had to have been 800+lbs. I think its going to be a bad year for bear encounters so I'm going to limit the boys fishing trips to close fishing near the van.I was fishing by myself when this happened & I'm a little wary about going in the morning by myself but it's in our blood as you know & the hell with it I'm going anyway. Chow for now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
