8-)Glad you like the picture. Every couple of fishing trips there has to be a sacrificial fish. This time it was a rainbow. We strip her of a bunch of eggs and tie up a bunch of egg sacks. Not giant sacks but little ones with six or so eggs per sack and then drift these sacks through the current and holes in the streams and creeks. And that's the secret bait, trout eggs. You can't buy or sell them but you can use them. ;D

Interesting i wonder if there is way to gently make the trout release the eggs and let her on marry way? But im sure you had decent rainbow filet on the other hand and nothing was wasted as well. So basically why do we fish in the first place? I think it boils down to the age long quest for food and the right to keep a fish for food if wanted.

Well Rich that sure was a big brown . And yes eggs rule!!! Its tough to milk the fish and let them go so we do have to take an occasional fish to keep our stash full. Me and Jeff keep around 5- 7 lbs for both of us for the season. Making the egg sacs suck and there no easy way to put it . I spent at least 40 hours just making eggs this fall. But there worth every hour
