I like to use 4-6 pound test line, some brands of line out there are made just for ice fishing and
for lower temperatures they state that the line doesn't freeze or ice up..
I like 6 pound test, it will still be able to bring in a good size walleye or pike if one gets in the
way while GOING FOR PANFISH!..

In Dec. I tried P-line Florice line. It stoodup to the cold temps real good. It also had no line memory. Which is key if you're tight lining. I like 2-4 pound test, mostly 2 because it allows you to use smaller jigs in deeper water. Which you need sometimes to catch those larger finicky pan fish. But make sure you got a good drag because every now and then a nice 4-5 pound walleye or bass might decide to give you a bite. I've caught both on 2 pound test. It's fun!!!! ;D
