I went fishing the other day and seen this one angler catching Walleye this angler was good let me tell you.. I walked over to see the Walleye he just landed ,I noticed the hook set was perfect right in the top lip he was using barbless hooks of course and that helped him quickly dislodge the lure fast.. He asked me if i could snap a quick photo for him and i said sure.. The whole process took under 30 secs which was very good... the walleye swam away like nothing even happened.. Its nice to see a seasoned angler that has perfected The art of Catch and release in action..
The key to a perfecting the ART of Catch and release is
Making the amount time its takes you too get the fish off the hook and back in the water AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!..
The quicker the better.. try to get it done under 30 secs or better.. If you can do under 10 secs your pro .. Try not to over handle and contact the fish with hands dont man handle the fish.. If you your having a hard time and cant get out the hook its best just to cut the shank of the lure and tie a new one on.. Using barbless quality hooks will make every hook set just as good or better than fishing with barbs..
The bottom line is [glow=red,2,300]RESPECT THOSE FISH AS MUCH AS YOU CAN [/glow]
*Remember THE FISH IS REASON WHY YOU LIKE FISHING IN THE FIRST PLACE,,

Yep i agree nothing is worse than seeing a messy hook set and a release that takes to long and the fish then is swimming belly up when let go down the river or lake to die!! One other important thing is holding the fish untill it gets its self back on track and ready to swim away i see lots of guys on TV they are suppose to be pro's they just throw the fish back in over their shoulders very sloppy and unprofessional if you ask me no respect their.. In the cold water you have a bit more time but when its summer fishing you dont have very long to make a good fast effective release.. So you must be quick great post SAGE
*RESPECT IS A LESSON LEARNED BY FISHING AND BY ANGLERS WHO CARE ABOU T THEIR FISHING SPOTS AND GAME/FOOD....
