Whats your favorite brand of fishing reel?

A Good Reel

Ever have a fishing reel that lasted you years and years of dependable trouble free fishing time?
Like most dedicated fishermen, i have a memory of a reel that went the mile for me...
I would have to say my favorite brand of reel would be Shimano reels
Shimano makes a good quality and very reliable reel with a great fighting drag system.

Whats your favorite fishing reel that you use?

I Like Shimano reels too,
But i have to say The best reel i ever owned would have to be

a Ambassadeur reel made by Abu Garcia it was fine reel it lasted me years!
And is still workin perfect today... Nice and smooth never any trouble with that reel..
You know spending a little extra on a fine well made reel sometimes pays off in the end..
In the tens years i used it i could have bought many cheap reels so why bother buying the cheap reels?
Cause in the end one well made reel will out last 10 cheap reels 10:1..

Depending on what i am fishing for depends greatly on what i use for my reel. If i am bottom fishing for catfish or pike, i like to use my old PENN 155's or the 209's, and my big dog the PENN 309 bait casters. If im going for the walleye i like my plain old Zebco's (33's) and the old green and black Johnson closed face reels that i have bought off from ebay and rebuilt to new condition. If it's pan fish i use my open face Diowa and Eagle claw reels. Now i do like to fish big fish with light tackle just for the enjoyment, there to i like the open face Johnson reels with light everything you just can't beat the fun of fighting a 10+lb fish using light tackle.

Ya ultra light combos for big fish is the way to go
Next step would be trying fly fishing North

Ya CREEK those ABU ambassadeur reels are fine!!! I bought one have to say they are sure built well and they last!
