Heres my plan
Why doesn't some one drop schools of Manitoba shiners from helicopters or give out tubs of them> the type they use for b**t in the winter at stores in to all the mosquitoes infested breeding areas? I'm mean like all the bigger breeding grounds in the fields? Wouldn't they eat the larva before they get a chance to hatch? And when the areas dry up and the minnows pass away then they complete there life cycle as fertilizer for the earth? Maybe it wouldn't work what do you all think? only problem i can see with it is you would have to deal with a few already west Nile infected animal activists breathing down your neck .Saying it was cruel and not to spray them oh-well

Went out to Minnedosa Manitoba to try out my luck ,managed to land into a few very small walleye and two smaller northerns, the only two i managed to catch on the fly was the northerns. Small lil scrappy fish and they sure like the the olive colored leech patterns i tied on. You know as i was looking around the edge of the river. I Noticed a lot of leeches really big ones.So i followed the river down a lil more and it turned into a nice slow flow of a back eddy. As i fished it I watched the river current gently washing up these huge camo colored leeches. Made me think i sure wouldn't wanna be swimming in that river. So I took the tip of my rod and scooped one out and put it in a container and brought it home and put it into my wifes Koi pond which i had built for her previously that month. The next day i knew when she found it the whole neighborhood did as well All i heard was screams of " hurry hurry theres is a lil snake in my pond kill it kill it !!!!! And the kids were yelling as well.

;D Well let me start this topic off by saying i know one day i will become that grumpy old man ice fishing on some frozen lake. How i know this is a friend that goes with me fishing most of the time makes me think about that movie "Grumpy old men". Not just that we never agree on much and if you seen us fishin together you probley think we hated each other. For instance you should hear the complaining when the fishing gets good and he has to help land some of the fish i catch ;D I love catching fish before he does makes em mad as hell. ;D Oh well i have to say he does know his stuff. Dont tell em i said that

Which power Bait do you like? I found that Yum power tails work great on the walleye no bait needed The reason why i like it is because its way less expensive and it works just as well maybe better than Berkley's Power bait. Have any of you ever tryed Yum? Start a feeding frenzy and try YUM ;D

Hi pocaman, I have caught whitefish on minnows and worms even len thompson Spoons will work. Small jigs tipped with a small bit worm would work very good to , but small presentation seem to be the key.,Worm and bobber techniques seem to catch all fish includeing white fish. I would be bringing a selection of colors and sizes of jigs. I know in the lakes back home when the fish flie or may fly hatch is on the lake is bubbleing with white fish are surfaceing all over to eat all the swarms of may flys. Have fun and dont forget to bring along some 5 of diamonds and red devils ,. Big sizes and small

Maggots or as they are sometimes called 'gentles,' are as everyone knows the larvae of flies. The word gentle implies amiable, mild, aristocratic, courteous, or tame; making the name 'gentle' a very odd choice to call a maggot. Actually throughout history, maggots have been extremely beneficial in medicine. Throughout the wars of our human history, maggots were medically useful because they only eat dead flesh, not living flesh. A suitable number of maggots placed on a wound and then bandaged, apparently actually helps in the healing process by eating and therefore removing unwanted infectious material. One could say, maggot's have their role in nature, that being consuming only dead flesh.
Old poachers would hang a dead rabbit or hare over a stream and leave it there. Over time the carcass would become fly-blown. As the maggot larvae grow, they crowd the liveable surface, but there is only so much space and in due time, a saturation point is reached. Growth after this point can only result in some maggots falling out, so to speak. Growth of the maggot clump thereby results in a constant drip of individual maggots falling on the water. This continues until the larvae finally hatch and fly away.
Trout soon become aware of this constant food supply and some good fish actually take up residence under, or just downstream from the hanging maggot infested corpse. It was a simple matter for the poacher to catch those fish using a small hook baited with few maggots, or even boiled rice. Clever but hardly sporting!
